I saw this a few moments ago in the fuckyeahlink blog and I just stared at the screen for a moment, wondering how the hell anyone ever came up with such a thing. The theory is that Kafei is the boy that used to play in the graveyard in Ocarina of Time. The soldier’s son, you know the one you get the Keaton Mask for? I don’t see how people even made this connection and I’ll tell you why. I’m gonna start out with something simple:

• Their hair color and eye color aren’t the same. Kafei’s hair color is purple, eye color is red. That boy’s eye color is blue and his hair color is brown—more or less, can’t pin point the actual color. Looks brown, though, anything but purple!
• When Link leaves for Termina, it is still in the past and that child couldn’t have possibly grown to be older than Link. Granted, he could have grown a bit, but not enough to the point where he’s engaged!
• Kafei is Mayor Dotour’s son. How can he be the soldier’s son? Granted, the solder could have left Hyrule and gone to Termina and eventually end up as the Mayor, but…this is still in the past and the Mayor is clearly an older man from the soldier that was standing at the gate of Kakariko.
• The boy wanted to be just like Dampe, I don’t think he’d leave the graveyard.
• It is impossible for there to be one single Keaton Mask in the entire world. Specially when the Soldier said that they were very popular; there’s gotta be more so I’d say that the mask connection isn’t enough.

This is all I can think of and quite honestly, I think it’s more than enough to “throw away” that theory. However, if anyone has any counter argument, I’d love to hear them. I’d even love to hear where such a thing even came form. I love Zelda. ♥
